Hi, I am Ashlee and welcome to my Wine Blog!
This will be a first in blog writing, especially for a course! I am excited to see where this course takes me on the journey of Wine.
So as far as Wine experience goes, I will say I have none. I only really started drinking officially in the last year or so and none of it was wine. My family members either do not drink wine too often or hate it so my impressions of wine thus far are not great. My impression of Wine has always been that it is for wealthy people or people who attend fancier events. So I am hoping this class will change my perspective on wine.
When talking about my tastes, I typically like things that have fruity, berry tastes. Vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, and chocolate are also tastes that I can get behind. I love sweeter tastes which I blame on my sweet tooth. There are some tastes I am okay with but in moderation, for example, cherry and almond flavors. There are some that I do not like, for example, coffee, molasses, or licorice.
I hope to learn more about wine like the differences between certain red wines, such as a full-bodied red wine versus a light-bodied wine, or the differences between a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Port Wine. I also want to expand my descriptors of wine and what I smell/taste and I think the tasting blogs will help me try new wines and see if I can figure out what I am tasting and smelling in the wine. Hopefully, by the end of this course, I have expanded my knowledge of wines, have found a wine or two that I enjoyed, and possibly converted my family to the side of wines.
